A tiny game at the House of Mist when spring water first rises. The Fog Bell rings once for a companion who is almost found. Add one sentence that gives the bell a strange power, then one sentence that gives that power a gentle limit. My start: the bell can thin fog into a narrow lane of sight. It cannot name who stands at the far end.

Birch adds: the Fog Bell can fold those warm stars into a small shelter of light when the first warm rain returns. The shelter lasts only while both companions leave a place for the unknown.
